Bulletproof Coffee

We don’t hop on every food trend (thanks but no thanks, smoothie bowls) but when one has been kicking around online for a while we do think it’s fun to give it a go here in the Cuppow kitchen.

There are lots of opinions on the internet (who knew?) about exactly what bulletproof coffee is or isn’t. We found our own happy middle ground between ‘a pad of butter in your coffee’ and recipes that say you can ONLY use the products ONLY the author sells.

Our recipe (makes two 12 oz. servings) went as follows:
Ingredients
2.5 Cups of Coffee from good freshly roasted and ground beans
2 Tbsp. Unsalted cultured grass-fed butter
1.5 Tbsp. MCT Oil (this one from Amazon)
Directions
Pre-heat the blender with some boiling water and then empty. Add coffee, butter, and oil. Blend on a low speed (too fast and things will get messy, quickly) until you’ve got a good froth going. Pour. Drink. Enjoy!

Our impressions ranged from “Meh” to “I’d drink this regularly.” No one’s brain exploded. No one solved any historically impossible math equations. It was a good boost of energy with what seemed like some healthy oils. Might be nice to do a more all-natural version with just coconut oil instead of whatever the thing we ordered on Amazon was.

Final Verdict: Bulletproof Coffee, something fun to make if you’re bored or easily excitable but probably not going to change your life.
